Fuel cards how do they work?
In its simplest form a fuel card is very similar to a credit card, each card has a wide network of petrol stations where it can be used right across the UK. When you open an account with companies such as Cambrian Fuelcard Services they will take all your details and set you up on their system
When you wish us to open an account for you we would take all your company details and then set up as many fuel cards as you may need. This will be dependent on the number of vehicles and drivers you have as each will be personalised to them. Basically you can have as many cards as you need. It is worth noting that there are different types of fuel card available and as such we need to ascertain your exact requirements and provide the card that best suits you. Our fuel card experts will look at your needs and provide advice on the best card for your business. They will determine this by looking at factors such as your fleet size, location, fuel type (petrol or diesel) and your monthly spend.
For most businesses the prime factor when choosing a fuel card is the location of filling stations, the last thing you want is for your drivers to have to go out of their way to obtain fuel. This will cost you both time and fuel. As long as your drivers can refuel easily and you can obtain fuel at a good cost then you and they will be happy. Fuel cost is also important and it may be that we can offer fuel at a discount to the prices you would normally pay at the pumps.
So after appreciating all the benefits of fuel cards you have decided to go ahead and find the right one for your business. The best way is to contact Cambrian Fuelcard Services’ experts and talk through your requirements. From there they will recommend the best product and help you complete any paperwork that is needed. Your application will be processed quickly and you will be sent your fuel cards.
Once your drivers have their fuel cards they can use them at a wide network of filling stations. They will use it just as they would a credit card by presenting it to the cashier for payment. You will be billed by us for your previous week’s transactions and we will take the funds by direct debit.
All the invoices are itemised and show the date, time and location of every transaction. All invoices are VAT approved which aids your administration procedures and eliminates any need you may have to collect receipts, with all the paperwork that involves.
From receiving your application we will process it: this takes up to 21 days and we will let you know timescales all the way through the process. When the application process is complete you will receive your fuel cards and your drivers can start using them to refuel straight away.
